Questions & Answers
Q. Question?

A. Best Answer: It depends what you want to do in terms of exercise but for me as a fitneess trainer the best gym equipment is a rower. Rowing machines have great calorie burning potential because they exercise larger muscle groups of both the upper and lower body regions. The help tone all the thighs and buttocks, and firm up the arms and all the back muscles together. Another positive point about the rowing machine is the ability for the user to create a rhythmic style while exercising. This technique really helps the body "switch" into that fat burning zone and after about 10 minutes of rowing you can rest assured your body is burning fat constantly to help you lose fat weight effectively.

Because rowing machines can benefit with burning lots of calories it means less workout time is needed for every session than say using an stationary exercise bike to lose weight, which only tends to exercise the lower regions over a shorter range of motion. This will save the dieter valuable time rather than exercising on a stationary bike for 40 minutes you should be able to comfortably burn the same number of calories with rowing for about 25 minutes, although remember the number of calories burned really depends on how a person exercises as well as their body make up

Q. Question? I am 220, and 5' 7''. I really want to begin losing weight before college starts in September. I will be having a 20 minute walk each way to college, there and back, when I begin going there. This is the exercise equipment my house contains:

-A cycle bike, however, I have pains on my tail bone when I sit down for too long because I am so heavy. So I cannot go on it until I have lost a lot.

-A treadmill

-Weights

-A weight gym in the garage. Sit ups, arm exercisers etc.

-A sit up frame with monitor

-The floor!

-A boxing dummy with boxing equipment.

-An exercise balloon ball

Which of these is the most effective? Also, are there any which can be pleasant to do with the right mindset?

If anyone could spend some extra time on making a workout for me that would be suitable to someone with my terrible fitness and weight, I would appreciate it! And no, I am too embarrassed to jog and walk outside, and I dont want to walk on the treadmill.

A. Best Answer: I was 5'7 and 170 lbs about 6 months ago and we had this weight set/bench press and treadmill in our basement and for about a month 5 days a week I would go 6mph on the treadmill for exactly ten minutes and then I would bench, curl, and do leg workouts on our gym until my body ached. And right now I am 5'8 or 5/9 and 150 lbs and a more muscular frame and I am participating at a workout session three days a week. We do many things but what I find most helpful is curling and squats. We take a plate that can be benched and we do 50 squats in 3 different ways. I can't really explain it but maybe youtube how to squat with a plate and try doing those. And although walking and running is a pain it works lots of your body and is mighty helpful. But for a real intense and short workout just box your dummy intense for about a minute and relax for about a minute and that will build up many, many muscles. Good luck.

Q. Question? I'm not that physically fit, I want to change my metabolic rate and improve my fitness. I already follow a fairly healthy diet.

I need to know if there are any exercises for core and lower body I can do at home without specialist equipment. I'm not very fit- I can usually get up to about 35 ab crunches in one go in the evenings, usually when I'm quite tired. 5 minutes later I can do another 15, and I keep going like that until I run out of energy and just fall asleep.

Also, how long does it take to see results? I've been trying to do crunches every night for three days (fell asleep in the middle of it last night, my abs were quote sore all day and it wore me out) and i've lost about 2lb. I walk to school every day, about 1.5 - 2 miles.

Suggestions and stuff would be appreciated. :D

A. Best Answer: im trying to get fit right now as well, i just got as gym mebership tonight and ive been trying to eat helthier but not diet, however i lookup videos on youtube and go along with them if you search "at home workouts" or "cardo workouts" or anything related theres alot of great stuff on there. wii fit is also something i like to do because it tells you the calories your losing and stuff. really try and focus on cardio workouts because thats how you lose fat and then do muscle training after to tone yourself.

This is a great treadmill that allows you to run, walk up anything makes you really feel as if your running up a mountain :D

Q. Question? i read recently that useing a keyboard and a computer mouse can cause disorders and injuries like - repetitive strain injury , carpal tunnel syndrome and tendinitis .

im 32 and for many many years have had aches and pains here and there including lower back pain , i was told it was probably due to being inactive , overweight and unfit - slight aches in shoulders while typing - and i have used my computer a lot for 5 years.

ive done something about my fitness and overweight problem , ive recently joined a gym.

doctors never once mentioned injuries or didorders from useing computer equipment and advised me to get fit and do regular exercise , and put my aches down to being on the heavy side , being unfit and having a slight lower curve of the spine when i was born.

since reading about these disorders and injuries you can get whilst useing keyboards and mouses , it has me worried,

would i know if id developed permanent injuries through useing keyboards and mouses ?

are they serious disorders which stay with you for ever and forever impair your life ?

to calm my anxieties id appreciate if anyone could give me clarity about this . thanks

A. Best Answer: If you had sustained RSI or carpel tunnel you would already know! I have both and they are very painful - neither were caused by typing in my case, thank goodness. For the last 20 years I haven't been able to write using a pen.

You have no need to worry. If you did start getting pain in your hands/ wrist then cut down on keyboard time. My fingers get very stiff before they get bad, so I just reduce keyboard time when that happens.

Q. Question? I'd like to know where I can buy this fitness equipment i.e. fitness equipment retailers and/or places where I can buy such equipment online (for my home gym) and get it delivered to my home to be in Abu Dhabi? How much do they cost over in the UAE?

A. Best Answer: U cud check out hamed center.. good place to bargain.. or abu dhabi mall.. on the third floor.. that megasports shop..
They deliver. dnno how much they cost.

Q. Question? Hey, I'm a 15 Year old guy and frankly my body's been pissing me off recently (excuse the french), well, recently being the last year or so. I'm fed up with myself and all my mates being all toned up and me being the little chubby one. I'm not fat but just have a few pounds here and there which I'd like to get rid of and I want to tone up mostly my abs. Does anyone have like some sort of daily or weekly routine thingy that I can do to help me lose the weight and tone the muscle. Nothing drastic because I'm not about to start forking out thousands on fitness equipment.

If it helps:
Like I said I'm a 15 year old guy. Coming on 16.
I already have some sort of cross trainer thingy.
I've got a dumbell weight at 5kg as well. And another at 10kg.

Please don't give me any "you shouldn't be doing weights at your age" or "Be happy with the way you look, we are all unique" because 1. It's light weights which is fine at my age and 2. I've said what I want to do about myself so I don't want anyone attempting to make me "happier" with myself.

Thanks!

A. Best Answer: plz visit this site...:)

Q. Question? Since the age of 18, I have always been active. Although (sadly) I do not practice any sports, I have always gone for runs, rowing and used cardio equipment for 1-2 hours at a time; between 3 - 5 times a week.

In my 20s, I never found it an effort - I enjoyed conditioning myself and sustaining my fitness. However, since turning 29 (6 months ago practically to the day), I have totally lost the motivation to exercise - at all. Why is this? The times I do go, I still do a lot but I no longer have the motivation to try and look&feel at my best.

Thanks in advance

A. Best Answer: Everything ebbs and flows and sometimes, dependent on mood, our priorities and motivations change. You of all people know the benefits and reasons for exercise, but just like those who smoke or are overweight finding the motivation despite the positives seems impossible.

I think 10 years in a sterile environment of a gym is pretty monotonous, maybe you should look into some other form of exercise? Jazzercise? Everyone has such different triggers that make them get back into the swing of things - for instance if I don't do anything in the morning it simply doesn't get done. You might be entirely different.

I don't think the 29 thingy has much to do with it, more you are re-evaluating why you do the stuff you do. Don't think you should be too hard on yourself, it's a good sign that you are bothered about not being bothered : ) It could just be a transitional phase which you will come out the other side eventually with maybe a different set of priorities or a need for more diversity, including how you keep fit.

What the hell does 'conditioning yourself' mean?! It sounds something someone would do to a spaniel to make it's coat shine...

Q. Question? I'm looking to buy some home gym equipment, but unfortunately have no knowledge of fitness haha, i am getting either one of these, but which one do you think is best?
I want to tone my arms, slim my legs down, and lose weight overall. Which would help me the most?
Oh and also, could anyone recommend somewhere where i could buy one!

Thank you : )

A. Best Answer: CuriosityKilledTheCat,

A ROWER is definitely a great piece of exercise equipment to meet and exceed your needs. They are inexpensive compared to other fitness equipment, but will be able to help you tone your arms, legs and overall weight loss.

Indoor rowing primarily works the cardiovascular systems and stresses many muscle groups throughout the body anaerobically, thus rowing is often referred to as a strength-endurance sport.

You have been warned, indoor rowing is an addictive and fun exercise! :-)

You can view all the most popular rowers on the market at GYMSTORE.COM (full link below). They have a large selection of cardio equipment that you can browse as well.

P.S. Another cost effective alternative are indoor cycle bikes, also know as spinning bikes - which are also found at the same website.
